Hawksmoor

After joining Soul Jazz records’ exclusive roster on non-archival signings James McKeown, AKA Hawksmoor recently released ‘Oneironautics’ on the label (following the critically acclaimed ‘Telepathic Heights’) further immersing his work in the sensibilities of 70s/80s German electronic groups like Neu!, Can, Cluster and Harmonia.

He successfully combines these pulsating ripples of Germanic references with decidedly English references: the soaring, hypnotic and pastoral qualities of Brian Eno, circa ‘Another Green World’; the long, sustained lines of Robert Fripp’s Frippertronics; and the poetic feel of early Durutti Column.

Strictly using modular synths, electronic drum rhythms, and guitars, Hawksmoor has created an electronic landscaped music world that is both new and old, immediately identifiable and yet utterly unique.

His previous Hauntological excursions have appeared on labels like Spun Out of Control and Library of the Occult.
